3 Steps To Improve Your Email Writing

We’ve all received a poorly written email, and some of us may also be guilty of sending those emails. Although I won’t point fingers, these situations illustrate the need to develop strong writing skills and practice proper email etiquette. This is critical because the ability to write clear, concise, and compelling content is essential in fostering and developing meaningful business relationships.

Use these three (3) steps to ensure your emails express your intended message:

Use a Targeted  Email Subject

A specific subject helps convey the intent of your email to your reader. This means the subject section of your email must include the purpose of the email. Be sure to make it grab the recipient’s attention to increase the chances of them opening and reading the email.

Introduce Your Purpose

Once you’ve provided a well-written subject, begin by sharing the reason you’re writing the email. Remember to keep the email brief, and write at an executive level, using brevity and bullet points to include necessary supporting ideas.

Per My Last Email...

Social media has highlighted the use of #corporateclapbacks. However, instead of sending an angry email, maintain strong professional relationships by pausing, breathing, and reflecting.

Although you may be tempted to add a little spice to your email remember that a professional email will always focus on the facts and provide a possible solution to your recipient.
