Maintaining Your Focus While Writing
Many people find it difficult to remain focused while writing. Thankfully, there are techniques you can use to maintain your focus and also boost your energy! Who couldn't use more energy??
1. Get rid of distractions! This may include the television, mobile devices, coworkers, or even your children. Identifying distractions will help you decide if now is a good time to write or if you should just write at another time, when you will be able to focus better. Also, if you have small children, you may want to plan to write around your child's schedule.
2. Pick a comfy space. Find a spot that is comfortable and clean. This will help set a calm writing environment, which is essential in maintaining your focus. If you have a lot of material to review, make sure you find a space that has enough room for you to analyze all the different information.
3. Fuel up! Hot tea, coffee, water, green smoothie, whatever your beverage of choice is, grab it! If you're a tea drinker, you'll be glad to know that tea helps with clearing your mind, which helps you remain focused. For the coffee drinkers, try a cup with very little sugar. Coffee is an energy boost, which can help during writing projects.
4. Plan wisely. If you know it is difficult to find time to write, planning is a must. Planning may also include developing a schedule to write in intervals. To do this, you can designate 30-minute writing intervals, with a 2-minute break in between. Taking long breaks can cause you to lose your momentum, preventing you from focusing. However, writing interval times can help increase your energy, while also helping you maintain your focus.
